Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about IT support, pricing, and how Lift IT Solutions works — answered.
How does remote support work?
I use secure remote access software to connect to your computer over the internet, no need to bring your device in. You’ll see everything I do on your screen in real time, and you can end the session any time. It’s the quickest option for most software problems, virus removal, and speed fixes. A session starts from $75 (1-hour minimum).
Do you support Macs as well as Windows PCs?
Yes I work on both Windows and macOS. Whether it’s a MacBook running slow, a Windows laptop with virus issues, or a desktop that won’t start, I can help.
How long does a typical repair take?
Most remote sessions are completed within an hour. Workshop repairs (where you bring your device in) typically take 1–3 business days depending on parts and complexity. I’ll always give you a realistic estimate before starting.
What areas do you cover for on-site visits?
I cover Henderson and the surrounding West Auckland area within approximately 20km — including New Lynn, Glen Eden, Massey, Ranui, Swanson, and Te Atatu. Not sure if you’re in range? Just ask and I’ll let you know.
How much does it cost?
Labour is charged at $75 per hour with a 1-hour minimum. There are no hidden call-out fees for remote support. On-site visits may include a travel charge depending on distance. Parts and hardware are quoted separately. I’ll always confirm pricing before starting any work. No nasty surprises.
Should I back up my data before bringing my PC in?
Yes, its always a good idea. While I take every care with your device, backups protect you against the unexpected. If you’re not sure how to back up, I can help you set up automatic backups as part of your repair visit.
What if you can’t fix my device?
If after diagnosis I determine a device is uneconomical to repair, I’ll tell you honestly and won’t charge you for a full repair. Diagnostic time may still apply. I’d rather give you straight advice than take your money for a lost cause.
Do you fix phones and tablets?
Yes I do screen replacements, battery swaps, and other common repairs for phones and tablets. Bring it in to the workshop in Henderson and I’ll take a look. Parts are quoted separately.
